Stepping Out From the Shattered Place

The Lord has had me on an incredible journey. I finally feel like I am stepping out from the shattered place into Gods healing hands.

In the past few weeks I have seen some rather interesting movies. I have also seen a few that where less then interesting.

I will start with the new Star Wars movie. It was better then I expected but it still lacked story. The lines and direction the actors had to work with made their jobs a tough one. Actors that I have liked in other movies gave a barely passable performance in this one. A few of the actors just out right stunk. I think Hayden Christensen who plays Anakin was hired for his looks not his talent. The FX are great to look at but a lot of them had nothing to do with the story. I wish they had had a smaller FX budget then maybe they would have paid attention to the rest of the movie. Good acting trumps FX any day. This movie did not have good acting. It was far better then the last two but that isn't saying much. I also didn't like the inconsistency. If you are a fan of the old Star Wars then I am sure you know the type of things that I am talking about. If you do not know then I will allow you to remain happily in the dark. The movie was ok the friends made the night! Thanks guys.

The critics where wrong about M. Night Shyamalan's "The Village" I know people who did not like it because it was not the horror flick they thought it would be. I enjoyed this movie. The story kept me guessing all the way through. They way the story was unfolded gave it the type of suspense that I enjoy. The acting was wonderful and believable. The concept of the movie is something I have wished in my life that I could do. I don't want to spoil the movie for those who have not seen it yet by reveling too much of the plot. This movie is comparable to M. Night Shyamalan's other movies. I have not gotten around to buying any of them yet but someday I will probably own this one along with his other movies. I watched this movie a couple of times while I had it and after the first viewing the story was still interesting even though I knew the outcome.

To my surprise I did not hate Napoleon Dynamite. I also didn't find it to be the funniest movie ever. I found it painfully uncomfortable at times. On the whole it was a pretty good movie. Funny in places not so much in others. It is a coming of age movie the story just sort of unfolds in front of you. There isn't a great big moment just sort of a lot of little moments that equal a period of time in this boy's life. No I didn't think it was nearly as bad as "The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension" to the friend who told me that it was. Most people either loved or hated this movie. I liked it but, I doubt I will see it again.

"Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" was a great movie. Mainly what I like is that the story concept was new. I like the choices the director made in how the movie was shot. This movie was not Hollywood, it was real. The people where not made to be as beautiful as possible they where made to look real. That is the best way I can think of to describe this movie it looked and felt real.

The best movie I have seen is one that I have long waited for, "Batman Begins". It was everything I expected and more. The story was excellent and the feeling of the old Batman comics was all over the place. I can't wait to see this one again.

Spiderman II umm well for a sequel this was a great movie. I liked the story and I liked that the action went with the story. It wasn't just there because they could. I just don't get why he spent so much time with his mask off. I don't recall Spiderman reveling his face this way in the comic. Was there any one in the city that didn't see him with the mask off? Doc Ock was great I liked that it was puppets and not as much CGI. The CGI shots where good and fun to watch. Over all a pretty good movie. I tend to not like sequels so this was a surprise for me.

Last but not least, Patrick Stewart as Scrooge in "A Christmas Carol" was fantastic. Now that is the way I saw Scrooge when I read the story! George C. Scott was great as Scrooge and I love that version of the story. I also like Alastair Sim but Patrick Stewart blew them both away. The rest of the movie was good and I would have to say this version is a tie with the 1984 version with George C. Scott.

There are others but nothing much to write about them Jack Lemon was amusing in "The Apartment" but the way women are portrayed offended me. "Around the world in 80 days" with all the cameos was interesting then again every time I have seen it I feel the same. It is a good comfortable movie. "The Power of One" was thought provoking. I am looking forward to seeing it again with a few kids that want to and a few parents that are interested.

That's all for now we are in the two week count down for the dinner theater, I probably won't be back here until after it is over. I will be too busy running around like a chicken with my head cut off. There are many pieces that are hanging out there things that have fallen apart or just don't seem to want to glue together. This is a wonderful out reach event. A chance to bring your non-Christian friends to a church for them to see church doesn't have to be boring. Come, invite your friends, mostly pray for all the pieces to come together.
