Our adventure chapter 2

The girls and Mel headed for the pool I headed for the brides family. I love the Speer family. They have treated me like a part of the family since the day I met them. I spent the next hour being hugged and catching up with Adopted Grandparents and Aunts. For me it was a wonderful couple of hours. I love being with this family. I love being a part of this family.

I attempted to introduce Mel and the girls to the brides grandmothers but the girls had disappeared. The bride had walked in and they jumped at the chance to see her. They where so happy to see each other they didn't even notice me taking the picture until the flash went off. :-) Everyone had a good time getting to know the grooms family and catching up with family and friends. The girls made a new friend the Brides cousin M. The rest of our time in Nashville M was somewhere near by.

The original plan was to see some of Nashville on Saturday night but, by the time the dinner was over I was out of steam. All I really wanted was my PJs and my pillow. S seemed to have an allergy to something our guess it was the pool. Her face was itchy and puffy. Mel took the girls to Walgreens to get some cream and I stayed in the room. I pulled out the sofa bed the plan was we where going to hang out and watch tv. I put a blanket on the bed and sat down ready to relax. As I sat down the bed sank to the floor taking me with it. The foot of the bed flew into the air. There I was with my butt on the floor and my feet on the bed which was up in the air. My back was against the back of the couch. Getting out was my first concern since I was in a rather precarious position. I was just hoping the bed would not fold up on me! I did manage to pull myself out and then I made an attempt to close the sofa bed. For some reason at that point it no longer seemed like a good idea to hang out on it. Now the bed which took up the entire living room would not close. I was tired and sore from my bed slide and in no mood for dealing with the bed! I called the desk and they found someone to come and force the thing closed. I am glad to say before they came back from the store. I am the only witness to this tale. None saw me in the rather interesting position I ended up in. If they had then I am sure there would be a picture to go alone with this post. I am also sure they would have been laughing way to hard to be of any help to me.

The next morning I was up rather early and headed in the direction I knew there was coffee. I stopped at the desk to talk about being eaten by a sofa bed. The hotel agreed to take the room out of service on our departure and replace that death trap.

This was the wedding day. The long awaited wedding day. There was a ton of stuff to do. First order of business was a prayer meeting to pray for the couple on this day and the rest of their lives. Getting the room that was suppose to be available for us was the first problem it was locked. The women at the desk took care of it but we did have a very sparkle room for our pray. There was a party in there the night before and it was not cleaned up. There was confetti all over everything. I felt bad for who ever had to vacuum up that rug.

During the wait I had a few minutes alone to chat with Pastor Dave. I was reminded how much I do love him and how I do miss some things from that church. It was a good talk but it was a hard talk as well. I am glad that God worked those few minutes out for our chat.

The prayer meeting for the couple and the parents of the bride and groom was wonderful. We spent about an hour in prayer leaving no aspect of the day or their lives uncovered by prayer.

Then it was crunch time. We all had our tasks to complete before the wedding at 2:30. One set of the brides Grandparents and I headed out to bride head quarters for final instructions and items that need to get to certain places by certain times. I saw a lot of the suburbs of Nashville that morning. I did get to see Opry Land.Photo by Mary Saxton Griffin

After one last hug with the bride Audrey, Dan and I headed to the country club with our box of stuff and instructions watching the sky the whole way. Just before we where heading out with the box of stuff for the church team the skies opened up and the rain pour down on us like we where in a water fall. Steam billowed up from the pavement as the cool rain cooled the hot pavement. After the rain stopped the air was cooler making for a perfect day. Quick stop at the church and then on to the hotel to get ready for the wedding. The good news Mel and the girls where ready at the time I told them to be ready for. The bad news I got back to the hotel at the time I wanted to leave to get to the wedding on time. I needed to get the girls to the church at 2 this left me with about 10 minutes to dress for the wedding. I was ready in record time and thanks to Mel even was able to have a bite to eat while I dressed.

The mark of a good friend that understands you is how they react when you run into the hotel room looking like a crazed drowned rat and when the speak to you and you just sort of run to the bathroom they get the fact that you just need space to do what you need to do. I came out of the bathroom and Mel had shut the radio off and moved to the infamous sofa, she "said I am going to stay here out of your way until you say you need something". I hugged her and thanked her for understanding me. She offered to make me something to eat and just sort of popped a sandwich into the room while I was in the shower. 20 Minutes later I was showered dressed full makeup and fed, ready to go. The girls where only about 10 minutes late to the church. Not many people where there that early so it wasn't too bad. Mel and I where escorted to our seats and we waited for the wedding to begin.
