Stepping Out From the Shattered Place

The Lord has had me on an incredible journey. I finally feel like I am stepping out from the shattered place into Gods healing hands.

The reward of kindness

Everyday at around 10:30 a sweet elderly women comes into the store to get lunch for her husband and herself. At one time they came in together but he had an accident with a tree limb and spent time in the hospital. I think the walk from the car is too much of a bother now so he sits and waits while she comes in.

Most of my co-workers think they are a real pain but, I disagree. I think they are a cute couple and they are very sweet. She doesn't like coffee but gets a cup everyday and drinks it with her husband because he likes that she likes coffee and they have there daily treat. He doesn't like butternut sometimes she gets him a butternut doughnut and doesn't tell him it is butternut and he eats it and says it's good. They are nice and polite and everyday they bring back the same coffee tray I gave them several months ago. "Why waste it" she says to me. Today I tossed it and gave them a new one. I wasn't sure it had one more trip left in it.

Today it was rather busy when she was in, as I made her coffee she told me she had something for me to thank me for being so nice and for being so good at my job. She left and came back a minute later with a dozen roses. I was so surprised. Her husband got out of the car and ran into the florist next store and picked them up. The effort for him to get out of the car and get them was almost a special as the flowers themselves.

Kindness is it's own reward but the flowers sure put a smile on my lips today. :-)
