Stepping Out From the Shattered Place

The Lord has had me on an incredible journey. I finally feel like I am stepping out from the shattered place into Gods healing hands.

A prayer request

Many of you have heard me talk about my friends in Salt Lake City the Chaplin Family. They are the one who adopted my aunt into their family when they met her shortly after she moved to Salt Lake. Sheldon, Vikki and their children Amber and Scott are the type of people who give without thought of themselves. I met them when I went to Salt Lake for the Olympics and a blessing it has been for me to know them. Sheldon sends me a care package every few months of herbs and garlic that he grows in his yard. The package always contains a good supply of spearmint for me to make tea, they grow it just for me because it helps me feel better with some of the symptoms of my illness. The Chaplins all live their lives following Christ and love everyone by his example.

My first night in Salt Lake was just in time for Tuesday night family dinner which my Aunt goes to every Tuesday. I was introduced to everyone around the table and most where in their early or mid 20s. I realized that most off these "kids" had been adopted as my Aunt had been. Many of them had some horror story about their own family and most had lived with the Chaplins at some point. To Sheldon and Vikki all of them are their kids and they do for them as they do for their own.

I write all of this to give you an idea who I am asking you to pray for and why. This past Tuesday Sheldon and Vikki's son Scott didn't show up for Tuesday family dinner. Wed. afternoon Sheldon went to Scott's apartment and found him sitting on the sofa dead. If I recall correctly Scott is about 26 now. There wasn't any sign of foul play. He just died.

The ME did a full autopsy and tox screen. The results won't be back for 4 to 6 weeks. Not understanding what happened is making this harder on his family. They are trying to be patient but this is something that is hard to be patient about.

Sheldon and Vikki's prayer request is that they can be patient. That they remember to hold God close as they walk this path and that they find some kind of comfort and acceptance in what happened.

Scott was just beginning a new chapter in life and putting some trouble from his past behind him. Sheldon and Vikki are angry that he won't get to live this new and happier chapter with his life on track.

Please pray for the Chaplin family and all who they have adopted as their own as they try to accept this.
